The rules and agreement for using JobSpot as a worker. Please read this before registering.
Plain English summary: JobSpot is free for workers. We match you to casual shifts. You are employed by WorkSpot (operated by JobSpot Limited) for each shift you accept. WorkSpot is your Employer of Record. You must be honest, show up when you accept a shift, and follow Health & Safety rules on site. Full details below.
JobSpot is a casual worker matching platform operated by JobSpot Limited (NZBN: 9429049638603registration pending]), a staffing agency registered in New Zealand.
JobSpot is completely free for workers. We earn revenue from the businesses (employers) who hire workers through our platform. We never charge workers a registration fee, placement fee, or any other fee.
By registering on JobSpot, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
To register and work through JobSpot, you must:
If you are on a student visa, you are responsible for ensuring your hours comply with your visa conditions. JobSpot tracks your weekly hours automatically, but the legal responsibility remains yours.
Providing false information — including false identity documents or false claims about your right to work — will result in immediate removal from the platform and may be referred to the relevant authorities.
Each shift you accept creates a separate casual employment agreement between you and JobSpot Limited. WorkSpot (JobSpot Limited) is your Employer of Record — not the business site you are placed with. All employment obligations, PAYE, KiwiSaver, and payroll are handled by WorkSpot.
As a casual employee, you have no obligation to accept any shift offered, and we have no obligation to offer you any minimum number of hours or shifts.
Each shift is a separate engagement. There is no ongoing employment relationship between shifts. However, your WorkSpot employment contract remains active while you are registered on the platform. Accepting a shift does not create any expectation of future shifts.
You are entitled to all rights afforded to casual employees under the Employment Relations Act 2000, including:
When you accept a shift (by pressing 1 on a phone call, or accepting via the app), you are making a commitment to attend that shift.
If you need to cancel: You must notify us at least 2 hours before the shift starts. Call or text our dispatch line immediately. Repeated last-minute cancellations will negatively affect your reliability score and reduce future shift offers.
No-shows: Failing to attend a shift without notice is a serious issue. It causes problems for the employer and for other workers. Repeated no-shows may result in suspension from the platform.
Check-in and check-out: You must check in and check out via the JobSpot system at the start and end of every shift. This is how your hours are recorded and how you get paid.
Running late? Always call the JobSpot dispatch line immediately. We would rather know than have an employer waiting. The number is in your confirmation SMS.
Pay rates are shown on each shift listing before you accept. The rate shown is your gross hourly rate (before tax).
Pay cycle: Workers are paid weekly. Pay for shifts completed Monday–Sunday is processed and deposited on the following Friday.
PAYE tax: We deduct PAYE (income tax) at the appropriate rate based on your IRD number and tax code. You are responsible for providing a valid IRD number. If you do not provide one, we are legally required to deduct tax at the no-declaration rate (45%).
Kiwisaver: If you are eligible, KiwiSaver contributions will be deducted at your elected rate (default 3%). You can opt out if eligible to do so under the KiwiSaver Act.
Payslips: You will receive a digital payslip by email each pay run showing hours worked, gross pay, deductions, and net pay.
If you believe your pay is incorrect, contact pay@jobspot.co.nz within 14 days and we will investigate promptly.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, you have obligations as a worker. By registering on JobSpot and signing the Health and Safety declaration, you agree to:
If you are injured at work, you are covered by ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) under NZ law. Report all injuries to the site supervisor and to JobSpot immediately.
Arriving impaired or in a condition that presents a safety risk will result in removal from site and may result in suspension from the platform.
While on a work site, you represent JobSpot. You are expected to:
Any serious misconduct on site will result in immediate removal and potential permanent suspension from JobSpot.
Your JobSpot account is personal to you. You must not:
JobSpot is free for workers and will remain free. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the platform with reasonable notice.
We may suspend or permanently remove your account for:
If your account is suspended, we will notify you by email or SMS with a reason. For permanent removal, you have the right to respond and we will consider your response before making a final decision.
If you disagree with a suspension or removal decision, you can raise a personal grievance under the Employment Relations Act 2000 by contacting us or the Employment Relations Authority.
To the extent permitted by law, JobSpot Limited's liability to you is limited to the amount of wages unpaid to you (if any) at the time of any dispute.
We are not liable for losses arising from shift cancellations by clients, changes to shift times or locations, or events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under NZ consumer protection law or employment law.
If you have a problem — with your pay, a shift, or any aspect of your relationship with JobSpot — contact us first at support@jobspot.co.nz. Most issues can be resolved quickly.
If we cannot resolve a dispute, you can contact:

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you by email or SMS if the changes are significant. Your continued use of JobSpot after notice of changes means you accept the updated terms.
