Who we are

JobSpot is operated by JobSpot Limited, a company registered in New Zealand. We run the website jobspot.co.nz and the JobSpot worker registration and shift matching platform.

When we say "JobSpot", "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean JobSpot Limited.

JobSpot acts as a staffing agency under New Zealand employment law and is the employer for workers placed through our platform. This means we have obligations to you under the Employment Relations Act 2000 and the Privacy Act 2020.

What information we collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Full name, mobile number, and email address
  • Your suburb, city and region
  • Work skills, experience, and job preferences
  • Availability (days and times you can work)
  • Identity documents — passport, driver licence, or 18+ card
  • Visa status and right to work documentation
  • CV or work history (optional)
  • Health and Safety declaration

Information we collect automatically:

  • Shift acceptance and decline history
  • Check-in and check-out times at work sites
  • Reliability score (calculated from your attendance and ratings)
  • Client ratings and feedback on your work
  • Device type and browser when you access our site

Information from third parties:

  • If you sign up via Google or Facebook, we receive your name and email from those providers
  • If you import from Seek, we receive the profile information you authorise

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Match you to open shifts that suit your skills, location, and availability
  • Contact you about shifts via phone call, email, or SMS
  • Verify your identity and right to work in New Zealand
  • Process your payroll and pay your earnings
  • Calculate and maintain your reliability score
  • Comply with New Zealand employment and tax law (IRD requirements)
  • Send you shift reminders and important account notifications
  • Improve our AI matching system over time
  • Respond to your questions or complaints

We do not use your information for: selling to advertisers, profiling for unrelated purposes, or making automated decisions that significantly affect you without human review.

Who we share your information with

Employers (our clients): When you are confirmed for a shift, we share your first name and contact details with the employer at that site. We do not share your full profile, pay rate, or other personal details without your consent.

Our service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate JobSpot, including:

  • Cloud hosting and database services (AWS, Sydney region)
  • Email delivery services (for shift notifications and confirmations)
  • Payment processing (for worker payroll)
  • Identity verification services

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to us.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information to government agencies (including IRD and Immigration NZ) where required by law.

We never sell your personal information to third parties. We never share your data with advertisers or marketing companies.

How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored on secure servers located in the AWS Sydney/ap-southeast region. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit and at rest.

How long we keep your data:

  • Active worker profiles: kept while your account is active
  • Employment records (shifts, pay): kept for 7 years as required by NZ law
  • Identity documents: deleted within 90 days of your account closure
  • Application data for unregistered users: deleted after 12 months

If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to retain.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Access your information — ask us what personal information we hold about you
  • Correct your information — ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • Delete your information — ask us to delete your account and personal data
  • Object to processing — ask us to stop using your data for certain purposes
  • Complain — make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz

Cookies and tracking

JobSpot uses minimal cookies. We use essential cookies only — these are required for the site to function (keeping you logged in, remembering your registration progress).

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or sell your browsing data. We may use basic analytics (such as page visit counts) to improve the site. These are anonymised and do not identify you personally.

Children's privacy

JobSpot is intended for workers who are 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has registered, please contact us at support@jobspot.co.nz and we will delete the account promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes that affect your rights, we will notify you by email or SMS before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of JobSpot after changes are notified means you accept the updated policy.
